• We are sad to announce that Gatineau (French) KINO is no longer happening. It was an incredible journey and we are very grateful to Espace DEP Sylvestre for hosting us. It was a challenge finding French local films but we still encourage and promote the francophone community.

On a sadder note, an attendee and former participant, who was teaching at La Cité collégiale, took it upon themselves to steal our KINO. Along with Ciné Jonction. We would reach out to them in order for their students to submit their films, yet they would not allow it. Instead trying their best to gate keep a community that belongs to everyone. They have taken Gatineau KINO from us and is asking the city for funding. This is disgusting behaviour and we believe that he doesn't have the community at heart, instead wanting a KINO with judges and filmmakers competing with one another. We believe this is not in the spirit of KINO and doesn't foster a safe space to participate. KINO is about community and encouragement and collaboration.

I believe full transparency is important here. And It's important to call out bullies.Thank all of you wonderful peeps for supporting it. The community lives on, and we encourage participation regardless. Our English KINO will always be welcoming to French films (with English subs of course). Let's make some films folks.

  • Le Festival du Film Français est une projection locale de courts métrages, un réseautage et un espace pour trouver l'inspiration. Nous invitons également les cinéastes à discuter leur film et leurs expériences sur scène.
